JOB ROLE MODULE- FASHION STYLIST/PHOTOGRAPHER

Image
Part of my next assignment for my contemporary fashion module, is to choose one job role within the fashion industry, researching into the skills, training and purpose of the profession. I am torn between two different job roles; Fashion Stylist and a Fashion Photographer . I have always had an interest in fashion styling, particularly editorial fashion styling. I love the way you can express emotions and personality through fashion and create many versatile looks.  I began looking into a variety of fashion stylists and there work, to give me an idea of the different variations of fashion stylists.     I firstly looked at New York based stylist 'Karl Templer' who is the creative director of Interview magazine and has internationally appeared in high fashion publications such as Vogue Italia, Vogue Paris,W and Love magazine.Above and below are some images showcasing Karl's styling work.  Moving onto Fashion Photography, Craig Mcdean is a high fashion photogr...

SS20 TREND BOARD- EMPOWER UP! AND GET TRIPPY CONTINUED

Image
These are my final three boards from my SS20 trend board.  Delving deeper into the 'Get Trippy' trend, it connotes a strong use of vibrant colour, tie-dye and ombre prints using fabrics such as distressed denim and soft Jersey knits. So moving forward I decided to compare designer, high street and street styles take on the Empower Up and Get Trippy trend. My findings are shown in the image shown below. Feel free to click on the images to get a closer look ! DESIGNER/HIGH STREET/STREET STYLE COMPARISON BOARD In order to create our final outcome, we had to decide on a market level we believe is best suited to our chosen trend.I chose ASOS as my chosen brand, in particular looking at the recent ASOS and Collusion A/W collection. SS20 TREND BOARD- EMPOWER UP!

Image
These are my first three boards from my SS20 trend board. Similar to my SS18 trend board I used the WGSN website to research into trends that are predicted for the spring/summer season of 2020.I was advised by my contemporary fashion lecturer Jen, to look into the main three macro trends;'Code Create','Empower Up!' and 'Designing Emotion'. After looking briefly into the three macro trends, I decided on Empower Up! The bright pastel shades instantly caught my eye, as well as the highly edited image of American rapper Travis Scott. Within the Empower Up! macro trend there were seven micro trends. I decided on the 'Get Trippy' micro trend as shown in the image below.

SS18 TREND BOARD

Image
This is my SS18 trend board I created as part of my University Contemporary Fashion module. I used the WGSN SS18 trend forecasting section on the WGSN website, to look and select a trend vision/forecast to use within my trend board. I chose the Psychotropical trend, which was placed within the Women's Denim Forecast SS18 content category. As soon as I saw this trend I was instantly drawn to the bright lime textured coloured culottes the model was wearing, alongside the highly embellished denim jacket. I love patterned and colourful fashions, so the Psychotropical trend was a perfect choice for me!  Feel free to click on the image to get a closer look!
